The transplant was a success and Byleth was revived, but at the cost of Sitri's life. Dying herself, Sitri pleaded to Rhea to transfer her Crest of Flames into her newborn. However, both Sitri and the newborn Byleth were too feeble, the latter especially having no heartbeat. The union of the vessel and inheritor of Seiros' crest resulted in the birth of Byleth. Sitri eventually fell in love with Jeralt, who had received Seiros's crest when Rhea, Seiros's current alias, gave him her blood after he took a mortal wound in her stead. Like her predecessors though, she too was unable to fully merge with Sothis. Sitri was the twelfth created vessel intended to host the spirit of Sothis through her Crest of Flames.
The reason for Jeralt's departure began with the circumstances behind Byleth's birth.
